Intro to Crime Scene Analysis


Find the ground truth of a crime scene with this 4-day introductory course on crime scene investigative analysis. Crime scene reconstruction is  essential to thorough investigation and reveals actions which are critical to determining the events which occurred during a crime. Through lecture and practical exercises, you will learn to objectively analyze evidence from any crime scene to determine the sequence of events and produce fact-based conclusions for legal proceedings.


This course is for detectives, crime scene investigators, and others involved in criminal investigations. 

Intro to Crime Scene Analysis

Investigative Analysis, Intro to CSR:

Classroom instruction and practical exercises include:

  • Using actual casework, applying context analysis, logical reasoning, scientific method, and objectivity in investigation.
  • Techniques for organizing and evaluating information to aid retrievability, maximize comprehension, and identify evidence relationships. 
  • Reconstruction through correlating relationships between forensic evidence, subject/witness statements and scene context. 
  • Introduction to bloodstain patterns and how they relate to other evidence.   
  • Sequence of event analysis.
  • Instruction on preparing reconstruction reports.
  • Managing expert courtroom testimony.
